Perfumes are essential in our country#39;s hot and humid weather, but those Chanel No. 5#39;s don’t come cheap. While deodorants might be a more value for money alternative, they are hardly skin friendly or long lasting, and not to mention those horrifying white patches they leave behind on clothes. Well, we#39;ve found the perfect solution to your fragrance woes and they are called natural attars. Commonly known as ittar, they not only smell divine, but will also linger on for the whole day. Here’s a tried and tested list of favourites, as part of our go desi series that also includes homegrown beauty brands we love. Neesh Talk about portable perfumes – zero fear of breaking delicate glass bottles – and here is the best example. This brand makes attractive bottles of pocket friendly (literally and figuratively) perfumes that you can carry around and use at any time to freshen up. The traditional fragrances available are in keeping with the authentic essence of attars. Take your pick from their varied collections of Rose-E-Mohabbat, Amour-De-Oud and more . The clean living movement, in many ways, is ultimate proof that the market is a lot more discerning now. We know what#39;s good for our bodies and are aware of what should be strictly avoided, and the beauty industry is waking up to that fact. There are now a host of local brands specialising in natural products addressing Indian skin needs for those who want to stick to a more wholesome routine. You might not have heard of them because most of these teams work sans big budget marketing campaigns, but make no mistake, they deserve some facetime (pun unintended). Here’s a tried and tested list of our favourites,  as part of our go desi series that also includes local alternatives to perfumes. Now in its 12th year, the popular Electronic Dance Music Festival Tomorrowland has become a pilgrimage of sorts for fans. While tickets for the actual event are sold out months in advance, various local partners have come together with the organisers to find a way to bring all the excitement of the festival to locations around the world. Called Unite: Mirror to Tomorrowland, it’s a screening cum party that will be held at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium on July 23rd.  WHAT IS IT Tomorrowland is one of the most popular electronic music festivals attracting EDM lovers from around the world. The annual three-day event is held in Boom, Belgium. In the past, it has attracted popular artists like David Guetta, Hardwell, Fat Boy Slim and Pendulum. The multiple stage celebration offers attendees numerous specialised travel and stay packages that include quirky tents and cabanas in designated areas of the extended festival grounds. In 2014, our very own DJ Shaan – who came into the spotlight for being the youngest DJ to perform at Sunburn Festival Goa 2010 – became the first Indian DJ to perform at the Belgian festival. In 2015, he was joined by EDM duo Lost Stories. This year is an exciting one as well, because big names from the Indian electronica and techno scene – Kohra aka Madhav Shorey, Dualist Inquiry and Madboy Mink – are travelling to the festival to make their presence felt. While they won’t be performing this time, we hope that day isn’t too far behind.  And if you can’t make it to the actual festival, Unite: Mirror To Tomorrowland will get you the experience right where you are. Select performances will be live streamed at a centralised venue in each country in combination with live sets by local artists being performed at the screening venue. Started last year, the inaugural Unite event was held in two countries outside Belgium —India (Mumbai) and Mexico. This year, the event is streaming to seven countries (Mexico, Colombia, Germany, Israel, Japan, India, and South Africa) with the India leg of the screening in Hyderabad. WHAT TO EXPECT The Unite experience will have two separate elements — one being the live telecast of the ongoing event and second will be the live performances by national, local DJs and music producers that have become popular names in the Indian scene. On Saturday, catch live sets by DJs Kerani B2B Joshi and Candice Reading from 8pm onwards, followed by DJ Anish Sood (known for tracks like the 2015 Superfly featuring Anushka Manchanda and Nanok). The last of the live sets will be by the electronic music duo of Prayag Mehta and Rishabh Joshi, also known as Lost Stories. Post the live sets, at 12.05am, a live stream of select sets from the original event in Belgium will begin. The atmosphere will be that of a big party with special effects like pyro and smoke machines that have been synced with the main event stage in Belgium. Sets scheduled to stream this time include acclaimed DJs and producers such as Dutch-born DJ Nicky Romero, who gained popularity with his viral hit song Toulouse and the UK singleICould Be with Avicii. He will be followed by Afrojack as well as the DJ cum producer duo of Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike. Tickets are available in various categories, from regular entry to VIP, although some are already sold out. Where: Gachibowli Indoor Stadium When: July 23rd, 8 pm onwards Cost: Rs 2,500 (General Admission Phase 2) and Rs 3,500 (VIP) For more, click here or here

Mercure launched Cayenne it’s all day dining restaurant recently, strategically located at the busy crossing of Erramanzil, to cater wider range of people. Since it’s inauguration it has been making waves with its uniquely presented lavish buffets and ala carte menu. Once one enters the property, one gets cocooned in a way to isolate from the hustle and bustle of the surroundings.   DÉCOR Place has contemporary modern look, with classy seating and sober dinning, more like any other modern-day business class hotel, everything here is plain and simple with clean trim. With huge glass windows overlooking the busy road on one side, light music in the background with ample lighting is intriguing in itself. FOOD The menu is well laid and would find everything from Continental to Pan-Asian all under one roof, and not to forget the fiery local fare and biryanis. Mercure is renowned for having global menu with a local touch.     Started with Murgh Adraki tender chicken broth with a dash of ginger and coriander, I am totally impressed with the presentation and subtle flavours. Followed by the fiery local favourite Guntur Mirapakai Kodi a tenderized chicken with generous amounts of Guntur chilli a must-try for those people who like the pungency of the chilly. One dish that caught my attention was their unique dish the Bamboo Chicken a rare delicacy from the Valley’s of Aruku where the chicken is stuffed in bamboo and cooked on charcoal. A very rustic yet amazing earthy flavours that surly would impress many. Then from the mains Tandoori Chicken Tikka Lababdar which is a well marinated chicken tandoored to precision and finished in a silky tomato sauce was mesmerizing with the garlic naan. Then came the Nawabi Spaghetti a fusion dish, combination of Italian pasta, Parmesan and Taleggio Cheese with Nizami Styled Lamb Kheema and green peas. It’s got the strong aroma, but its flavors are comparatively mild with an unusual tang, deliciously meaty with a slight chilli kick. Finally finished off on a sweeter note with Baked Gulkand Jamun which is dumpling of cottage cheese stuffed with rose petal confit, topped with rabdi and baked. Cayenne being an all-day dining serves Asian, Continental, Italian along with our very own Indian cuisines. Their splendid buffet is well laid out for breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. Executive Chef Vinay has bought in varied cuisines with innovations to create gastronomical wonders that for sure going to enthral your taste buds. Service: This is one are they have a scope for improvement, thought no complains but would expect a bit more efficiency in service. Must try: Murgh Adraki, Ragu Fungi Orecchiette, Guntur Mirapakai Kodi, Nawabi Spaghetti, Nellore Chapala Pulusu, New Zealand Lamb Chops, Baked Gulkand Jamun.
